Aaron has been an executive manager in real estate and real estate finance in several capacities. He is a third generation lender and entrepreneur and has a deep understanding of residential and commercial finance, residential construction, and energy efficiency. Aaron is a graduate of the Executive MBA program at the University of Washington.
Sam Lai, CMO
Sam has been overseeing the acquisition, re-design and sales of Green Canopy Homes from the 1st project. Sam graduated from the University of Washington in the Arts and International Communications and has been a real estate appraiser and developer for over a dozen years. He currently serves on the board of New Horizon’s Ministries, a non-profit in Beltown area of Seattle which connects with and provides services for homeless youth on their journey toward healing.

Andy is a Green Canopy original and a 3rd generation real estate manager. He is an experienced finance professional and manages all aspects of Green Canopy’s capital, including his role as Director of the Company’s real estate debt funds. He graduated summa cum laude from Seattle Pacific University, where he played on the men’s soccer team for four years and captained the team during his junior and senior seasons. He is an avid mountain biker, runner, outdoor enthusiast and still enjoys playing soccer. Andy is a Beta Gamma Sigma graduate of the Executive MBA program at the University of Washington.

Justin is an experienced professional in construction management with over a dozen years of diverse responsibility in commercial and residential construction project management. Mr. Hooks is responsible for the overall management of Green Canopy’s construction program. He works closely with the entire team to ensure the comfort, beauty and successful completion of every Green Canopy Home.

Ami Nieto is Green Canopy’s Human Resource Manager and Regional Office Manager. She joined the team in 2013 and has over 10 years of experience in professional administrative roles. Ami moved to Portland in 2014 to help Green Canopy establish its second location. She currently manages the Portland office and all aspects of Human Resources for the Company including benefits administration, compensation, employee relations, compliance and more. Her organizational skills and professional demeanor keep the department running smoothly. She is passionate about Green Canopy’s mission and is most proud of helping the Company become a Certified B Corporation. Ami holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from San Francisco State University. When Ami’s not working, she enjoys practicing hot yoga, and spending time with her husband Ryan, and their dog, Bishop.
Ryan Nieto, Construction Program Manager

Ryan Nieto has spent the last five years developing and applying his mechanical skills in the world of residential retrofit construction. He obtained his Performance Test Comfort Systems certification from the Washington State University Energy Extension program in 2010. Ryan received an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps in 2004, where he developed an eye for attention to detail and a lifetime of motivation. Armed with a keen eye, knowledge of air movement, thermal transfer and building science, Ryan is now on the front lines of Green Canopy’s war against unintended air infiltration and heat loss.

Kimberly Shipley, Principal Architect
Kim has 12 years experience in the field of Architecture, with the last 6 spent designing and managing projects for a local residential spec building company that she helped start up. She is excited about joining Green Canopy and being a part of such a thoughtful and visionary team. When she’s not working, she and her husband can be found communing with nature, backpacking, playing ultimate Frisbee, and traveling.

Jennifer Busch, Accounting Manager
Jen has been working in accounting and office management for over twenty years and has been the owner and operator of her own bookkeeping firm, JLB, Inc. for the last nine. She is responsible for the day-to-day management of the books at Green Canopy. Having concentrated her Business Degree from the UW in Human Resource Management, she also provides Green Canopy with HR guidance when the need arises.
